WV KIDS COUNT is a non-profit agency in West Virginia that helps policymakers make the best decisions possible. They produce a state-wide Data Book that annually tracks the well-being of children to provide high quality, unbiased information and encourage action on behalf of kids and families. ASP designed and developed the website to display information about the organization, the partnerships, committees, funders, ambassadors and legislation information. There are links to download the printed WV Data Book and the National Data Book.
ASP developed the online State Searchable Database. The database allows the visitor to select 16 well-being indicators in four domains that capture what children need to thrive including 1) health, 2) education, 3) economic well-being, and 4) family and community. These align with data indicators from The Annie E. Casey Foundation’s 16 national child well-being indicators. Visitors can view a data list of all West Virginia counties or select a few counties to compare data. There is also a bar chart view of the selected counties. The visitor has options to print the chart, download pdf, jpg, or export to a csv or excel file.
